A Brief History of Temple Har Zion
In February of 1971, Temple Har Zion was founded by a few families who felt the need for a Reform temple in northeast Toronto. By September of that year, at the first High Holy Days services, there were 72 families. The Temple moved from rented facilities to its own property on Bayview Avenue, in Thornhill, in 1974. As the congregation grew, so did the need for a larger facility and so the present structure was built in 1979 and renovated in the 1990's. We are a congregation of about 460 families.
